Avenues Bistro presents the latest wine dinner concept:
The Arrogate Sommelier
An Iron Sommelier Derivative
Held Monday April Fool’s at 6:30 p.m.
Two chefs, two Sommeliers and one incredible dining experience is coming April 1st, 2013. This twist on the very successful Iron Sommelier series sees even more competition. Here, two teams (one chef and one Sommelier) will bring their best cuisine and best wine pairing. Here’s the matchup:
Wine Director Timothy O’Neal & Executive Chef Mario Galan
Sommelier Matthew Lees and Avenues owner Joe Birch
Here’s how it works:
Each team is responsible for putting forth two courses and a predetermined wine to go along with each course. Prior to the engagement, each opposing Sommelier will get a chance to taste the opposing teams dishes and attempt to usurp their supposedly unbeatable pairing by putting their wine suggestion alongside too. Thus, two wines will accompany each course. Be aware that a Sommelier putting forth a winning wine on the opposing teams’ creation will be cause for great embarrassment and a black cloud of shame. (Arrogate: to claim unwarrantably or presumptuously). Finally, and over dessert, the crowd will then decide which of the four contested cuisine courses reigns supreme. The Chef’s competition is a friendly joust, the Sommelier battle is not.
Cost of the dinner is $99 per person* (Includes all food and wine)
*Members of Club bistro will enjoy double points!
Note: When the menu emerges, it will be emailed to all those who have signed up. We can always substitute dishes (allergies or otherwise)
